OUR SCHOOL
South Florida Academy of Excellence attracts and retains the highest quality, most caring state-certified teachers. We are sure to give them the tools and resources they need, to help each of their students to reach their goals.
All South Florida Academy of Excellence teachers are fully accredited by AdvancED & SACS. We use a custom curriculum that meets the academic needs of our students. We understand the importance of a curriculum that fits the students, rather than trying to fit all the students into one curriculum.
Grades K-5
The goal of the South Florida Academy of Excellence Elementary School Program is to develop an early interest for our youngest students in their own learning. We know these early years will build the foundation for each student’s academic growth and success.
Grades 6-8
Middle school, or secondary school years are some of the most important in the learning phases. Entering their teen years, students will learn to face new challenges, start to form their interests, and have a broad range of new experiences. South Florida Academy of Excellence offers many options and programs for students in this age range. Your students path will begin to be formed here, and we offer just the right support and the curriculum.
Grades 9-12
South Florida Academy of Excellence knows the importance of your students high school years. Our assortment of programs for grades 9 through 12 is varied, and full of interesting, engaging information. Students at this level take their schooling seriously, and so do we. SFAE understands these are the steps that will take them onto the next stages in life whether is be additional schooling or a career path of their choice.
Elementary Students
Students in grades K-5 take the following courses each year:
- English Language Arts
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Studies
- Physical Education and Health
- Art/Music/Drawing
- Computer and Library skills
Middle School Students
Students in grades 6-8 take the following courses.
- 3 credits in English Language Arts
- 3 credits in Mathematics
- 3 credits in Science
- 3 credits in Social Studies
- Physical Education/Health
- 1 credit in Art/Music/Drawing
- 1 credit in Computer and Library skills
- 1 credit in Career and Education Planning
High School Diploma Requirements
Course Requirements:
- 4 credits in English Language Arts. This should include reading, writing, spelling, grammar and composition, literature, and speaking.
- 4 credits in Mathematics (one credit must be Algebra 1; one credit must be Geometry)
- 3 credits in Social Science (one credit must be in World History; one credit must be in U.S. History; one-half credit must be in U.S. Government; one-half credit must be in Economics with Financial Literacy)
- 1 credit in Fine or Performing Arts, Speech and Debate, or Practical Arts
- 1 credit in Physical Education/Health. This should include instruction on first-aid, safety, and fire prevention. CPR should also be included
- 8 credits in Electives (two credits in Foreign Language are recommended for students who plan to go to college; 1 credit in Computer and Library Skills and 1 credit in Career and Education Planning are recommended)
Honors High School Diploma
SFAE assigns an honors designation upon graduates in the following categories
- Honors: 3.60 or higher GPA with at least 3 credits in honors courses during the high school years. At least one honors credit must be earned during the senior year.
- High Honors: 3.75 or higher GPA, with at least 6 credits in honors courses during the high school years. At least one honors credit must be earned during the senior year.
- Highest Honors: 3.90 or higher GPA with at least 10 credits in honors courses during the high school years. At least 2 credits must be earned during the senior year
